The Council

    About the council

The Icelandic Fashion Council (IFC) is the professional association of fashion designers in Iceland and one of eight professional associations that own the Icelandic Design Center. Its aim is to advance solidarity among those who work in fashion design in Iceland and protect the rights of its members. IFC focuses on contributing to progress in the industry and to strengthen innovation in Icelandic clothing design. The council works towards promoting Icelandic fashion design to the public.

    Education and training

IFC organizes various exhibitions and events with the aim of promoting Icelandic fashion design, educating the public about clothing designers and their workplaces, as well as encouraging professional discussion.

    Annual festival

The annual festival is held at the end of the year and its goal is to strengthen the solidarity of members and create a platform for educational and professional discussion.

    Indriði prize

Every other year, IFC awards the Indriði award, named after the tailor Indriði Guðmundsson. With the award, the IFC wants to give designers recognition for their work and contribution to Icelandic fashion design as well as highlight the best that is happening in Icelandic fashion design at any given time. The award is intended to increase awareness and respect for Icelandic clothing design.

    Design March

IFC has been involved in DesignMars from the beginning with joint exhibitions where design from members is displayed under the artistic control of the curator.

The company is one of the professional associations that own the Icelandic Design Center and therefore the members receive priority for participation in Design March.
