The program for Iceland´s largest design festival is live with around 80 exhibitions that reflects the unique growth of the Icelandic design scene in these turbulent times of change in strong collaboration with the innovation sector, the business community, Icelandic embassies around the world to name a few.

The lecture is called Mapping theory through practice - the logic of success and failure and a part of the Sneiðmynd lecture series at the Iceland University of the Arts. Helga Lára holds a BA degree from the Iceland University of the Arts and an MFA in fashion design from The Swedish School of Textiles. Since graduating in 2018 she has been a part-time lecturer at the Iceland University of the Arts and The Reykjavík School of Visual Arts. The lecture is on Teams, Tuesday April 13th at 12.10.

Nordic architects, artists, designers, engineers, scientists, entrepreneurs, students and everyone interested are invited to join in creating the Nordic perspective for the New European Bauhaus, an environmental, economic and cultural project instigated by the European Commission.

For the first time architecture will be taught on Master‘s level in Iceland, and the first time that local architecture students are given the option of completing their architecture studies in Iceland. The MArch programme is a two-year international programme and will start in the fall 2021. Application deadline for the programme is April 7th.

This year DesignMarch will take place during May 19th-23rd. The selection committee has been kept busy, (with highest record in number of applications) for the last month and has just revealed that over 100 exciting projects will be showcased during the five day festival.

The European Commission and the Fundació Mies van der Rohe are pleased to announce the first list of the works competing for the 2022 European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award. The Icelandic nominations are Drangar guesthouse by Studio Grandi, Gudlaug natural pool by Basalt Architects and The Visitor Centre in Borgarfjörður Eystri by Andersen & Sigurdsson Architects.

The honorary award for the Icelandic Design Awards 2020 goes to Kristín Þorkelsdóttir, graphic designer
The Icelandic Design Awards 2020 took place digitally on the 29th of January. The recipient of the honorary award at the Icelandic Design Awards 2020 is Kristín Þorkelsdóttir, graphic designer by Lilja D. Alfreðsdóttir, minister of education, science and culture for her priceless pioneering work in the field of graphic design in Iceland.

The Icelandic clothing company 66°North receives recognition for best investment in design at the Icelandic Design Awards 2020. Sigurður Hannesson, managing director of SI - the Federation of Icelandic Industries gave the award to Bjarney Harðardóttir and Helgi Rúnar Óskarsson, owners of 66°North. The company was founded in 1926 and designs high quality outdoor clothing.

The Icelandic Design Awards 2020 was announced today, 29th of January, digitally. Þórdís Kolbrún R. Gylfadóttir, minister of Tourism, Industry and Innovation presented the award to Margrét Harðardóttir and Steve Christer architects from Studio Granda for the project Drangar.
