Crafting moments of magic at 3daysofdesign

The Icelandic Warehouse is an exhibition of Icelandic prominent furniture and interior design brands FÓLK Reykjavík, launching its remaking of Icelandic classic furniture and EPAL, presenting BAÐ, a homage to the unique Icelandic bathing culture, with unique scents from FISCHERSUND, a family-run perfumery / art collective and wellness concept FLOTHETTA.

Architect Lina Ghotmeh joins the line up for DesignTalks 2025

Lina Ghotmeh leads her practice Lina Ghotmeh — Lina Ghotmeh Architecture. Echoing her lived experience in Beirut – a palimpsest of unrest – her designs are orchestrated as an “Archeology of the Future” where every project emerges materially sensitive and in symbiosis with nature. DesignTalks takes place on the 2nd of April in Harpa, Reykjavik with the theme of The Source.

Hanna Whitehead exhibits at Greenhouse at Stockholm Furniture Fair

Designer Hanna Dís Whitehead will exhibit a new body of work during the Stockholm Furniture Fair 6th -10th of February. She will be at the Greenhouse - the platform for up-and-coming designers. She will be launching a series of vessels and boxes from mixed materials as well as a new version of her ceramic hangers that have mutated and become supersized.

Constantly questioning

Despite only being in operation for about five years, the design studio Kolofon has already carved out a niche for itself and garnered attention for its civic projects for institutions, companies and municipalities around the country. The studio has, for example, worked for the City of Reykjavik, the Icelandic police, the Vesturbyggð municipality, the Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration (IRCA), and the proposed Borgarlína public transit system.

“The most important thing in friendship is building trust”

The exhibition Sýningin Hæ/Hi: Designing Friendship opened in Seattle in the beginning of October where six Icelandic designers and designteams met their US counterparts.  The exhibition was originally planned for DesignMarch 2020 and at last, two years later, the designers joined in Iceland in May where they premiered their works at the DesignMarch festival 2022. Now they met in Seattle.

Folk Reykjavík receives recognition for best investment in design at the Icelandic Design Awards 2022

The recognition for best investment in design 2022 goes to the Icelandic design company Fólk Reykjavík for their confidence in Icelandic design in a noteworthy and successful manner. Árni Sigurjónsson, chairman of the board for the SI - the Federation of Icelandic Industries gave the award to Ragna Sara Jónsdóttir, founder and creative director of Folk Reykjavík.

Guðrún Sóley Gestsdóttir, media personality, presented the awards and earlier during the day a productive talk was held about a future based on design, creativity and innovation, directed by Hrund Gunnsteinsdóttir, the managing of Festa - center for sustainability.

The Icelandic Design Awards 2021 took place on the 29th of October in Gróska. The recipient of the honorary award at the Icelandic Design Awards 2021 is Gunnar Magnússon, furniture designer and interior architect for his characteristics that are exquisite and make his work unique as distinct representatives of a prime period in Icelandic furniture design. His children received the award on his behalf from Lilja D. Alfreðsdóttir, minister of education, science and culture.
