David Kohn to Speak at DesignTalks – Early Bird Tickets Now on Sale!
Early bird tickets are now on sale for DesignTalks, the international design conference taking place on Wednesday, 7 April 2027, at Silfurberg in Harpa Concert Hall. British architect David Kohn is the first speaker to be announced for the conference, which brings together leading designers, architects and creative thinkers from around the world each year.
The theme of DesignMarch 2027 is INSIGHT, inviting us to look beyond the finished work and explore what lies behind the creative process. From ideas, research and experimentation to the diverse processes that lead to new solutions, DesignTalks will delve into the worlds of design and architecture, exploring different approaches and perspectives that challenge conventions and open up new possibilities.
DesignTalks has established itself as one of the highlights of DesignMarch and an important platform for inspiration, dialogue and fresh perspectives. The conference has sold out in recent years, offering audiences a unique opportunity to gain insight into the minds and creative processes of those shaping the present and future through their work.
David Kohn takes the stage at DesignTalks
The first speaker announced for DesignTalks 2027 is David Kohn, a London-based architect and educator. He is the founder of David Kohn Architects, a practice recognised for its inventive approach to complex projects in historic settings and its emphasis on collaboration throughout the design process.
Recent projects include new university campuses for the University of Oxford in the UK and Hasselt University in Belgium, gallery spaces for Modern Art Oxford and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, as well as several houses in the English countryside.
In 2025, König Books published a monograph exploring the practice's diverse body of work and architectural approach. David Kohn has also taught architecture for over two decades and will be a visiting professor at Yale University in 2027. Beyond his architectural practice, he has a strong interest in contemporary art and serves on the board of the British arts organisation Artangel.

The DesignTalks curatorial team consists of Sigurður Oddsson, Design Director at Aton; Nils Wiberg, interaction designer and co-owner of Gagarín; Magnea Þ. Guðmundsdóttir, architect and founder and owner of STIKA; Jón Helgi Hólmgeirsson, product designer, musician and Programme Director of MA Design and New Environments at the Iceland University of the Arts; and Anna Clausen, stylist and creative director.
The event will be held in English.
