DesignMarch marches into an exciting new chapter

It won't be long before we bring out the trumpets and start marching once again. DesignMarch returns on 7–11th of April 2027. Preparations are in full swing, ideas are flowing and creativity is in the air. Exciting changes and fresh perspectives lie ahead.

DesignMarch is a vibrant and colourful celebration of design and architecture, bringing together designers, new ideas and curious audiences. For a few days each year, the festival takes over the city, with design flowing into exhibition spaces, shops, studios and unexpected places. A whole world of ideas, perspectives and knowledge unfolds across Reykjavík.

DesignMarch is one of Reykjavík's major city festivals, offering a diverse programme for anyone who enjoys ideas, creativity and seeing things from a new perspective. Visitors wander from place to place, finding inspiration along the way and sometimes ending up somewhere entirely unexpected.

For the past 18 years, DesignMarch has been an integral part of the calendar for designers, architects and the people of Reykjavík alike. Along with the golden plover, DesignMarch is a welcome herald of spring, bringing inspiration, joy and a special energy to the city. It is a festival we look forward to each year,truly a time to come together, discover, experience and celebrate.

DesignMarch is Iceland's design festival, while also playing an important role on the international stage. To strengthen that position and place the festival more clearly alongside other international design festivals, Reykjavík Design Festival will become part of its English name: DesignMarch - Reykjavík Design Festival.

Always in April!

DesignMarch has also found its permanent place in the calendar. From now on, the festival will take place every April, with dates already confirmed for the next five years:

7–11 April 2027
26–30 April 2028
11–15 April 2029
3–7 April 2030
23–27 April 2031

Every April, the trumpets will sound where design and architecture will take centre stage across the city. DesignMarch is a platform for new ideas, unexpected connections, conversation and creativity and now it has a permanent place in the calendar, marching to a steady beat.

So lace up your shoes and start warming up: early-bird registration for DesignMarch will be announced in the coming days.
