The design team 1+1+1 joins the lineup for DesignTalks

It’s time to introduce the next speakers at this year’s DesignTalks. 1+1+1 is an experimental collaboration between designers from three Nordic countries: Hugdetta from Iceland, Petra Lilja from Sweden, and Aalto+Aalto from Finland. The design team shakes up the traditional design process, constantly surprising even themselves.
The project rethinks objects by having each studio design a piece made up of three distinct components, which are then combined into unpredictable compositions. No compromises are allowed, as each studio designs entirely according to its own philosophy. In this way, the project challenges conventional design methods, and the outcome is always surprising. The project began as a way to collaborate despite geographical distance, but the result became far greater than the sum of its parts.

„When we created this method, we had no idea what to expect from the results. The unexpected forms and combinations were incredibly exciting, and we knew we had created something special. What started unexpectedly as a one-off experiment has grown and has now lasted for 10 years. Above all, it’s about friendship and collaboration,” says the 1+1+1 design team.
It will be exciting to hear from this remarkable team when they take the stage on May 6 at Harpa for this year’s DesignTalks.
Already announced speakers include Dorte Mandrup, Stefan Sagmeister, Hjalti Karlsson and Kristjana S. Williams.
This is a talk you won’t want to miss!
