October 10th, 2024

The book Volcano, by illustrator, designer, and author Rán Flygenring, is nominated for Product of the year at the Icelandic Design Awards 2024. The award ceremony will take place in Gróska on November 7th.

From the jury:

The book Volcano is a memorable journey where a passion for volcanos and volcanic activity is conveyed in a personal manner. The author’s style, both in illustrations and text, comes into its own as it communicates the topics, in an exhilarating manner capturing the attention of readers of all ages.

Strong imagery, beautiful and impressive use of colors, and resourcefulness in presentation all come together in a fun experience where the author's sense of humor and passion for the topic are tangible in each spread. Rán Flygenring’s work is inspired by observations of people and phenomena, as well as an aspiration to provide educational value. It is also exceptionally beautiful.
