Admission Requirements

Admission of new members to Leirlistafélag Íslands is subject to the admission rules of SÍM.

Applications must be carefully prepared.

To be eligible for membership in Leirlistafélag Íslands, applicants must fulfill the following requirements:

Have completed recognized studies in fine arts at an accredited art school, or equivalent to at least two years of study following a matriculation exam, or comparable education. Otherwise, the applicant must meet four of the requirements listed below:

1. Other education in fine arts (minimum total of 2 years) confirmed by a statement from the relevant institution.
2. One or more solo exhibitions in public exhibition venues. Confirmation required.
3. Participation in an international exhibition, a group exhibition supported by public authorities, or at least five other group exhibitions. Confirmation required.
4. Assigned by a jury to work on an art installation in a public space. Confirmation required.
5. Own at least one piece in public ownership, purchased by the relevant museum council or appraisal committee. Confirmation required.
6. Have received a public grant or artist salary. Confirmation required.
