December 1st, 2022

The International conference DesignTalks will take place in Harpa on May 3rd. Early bird tickets are now available. Do not miss a full day of inspiration, innovation and creative powers!

„Everything in our man-made environment is designed, also some of the problems. So we need to be in constant reformative and regenerative thinking.”
Hlín Helga Guðlaugsdóttir, DesignTalks curator

DesignTalks is a big internationally acclaimed conference that is an important platform for inspiration and conversation about the main developments and changes driven by design and architecture - and one of the most fun!

The event addresses the challenges the world is facing and highlights the importance of design and architecture in societal and global change, with talks about impactful projects and inspiring conversations. Designers, architects and creative thinkers, international and local, provide insight into pressing issues with passion. Nothing is off limits.

Fashion designers, food designers, architects, product designers and interactive designers have discussed sustainability and the circular economy in design, technology, equality, fungi, experience design, digital fashion, information design, systems redesign, designthinking, speculative futures, data literacy and design in space - for the earth.

DesignTalks is for everyone interested in design and innovation and aims to encourage creative conversation and collaboration in a wider context. The conference inspires designers and architects, community influencers, businesses, government and the public to collaborate and evolve.

In recent years, the conference has taken place in front of a full house in Silfurbergi in Harpa, so it is important to get your tickets early.

“Honestly it was the best talk we have ever attended, such a well curated mix of speakers.“ Azusa Murakami & Alexander Groves, Studio Swine

Through the years, speakers have included Bjarke Ingels, Katharine Hamnett, Winy Maas, Snøhetta’s Kristian Edwards, Google Creative Lab’s Robert Wang, Studio Swine, Calvin Klein, Dezeen’s Marcus Fairs, Anthony Dunne of Dunne & Raby, Marshmallow Laser Feast, Marije Vogelzang, architect Anders Lendager, Liam Young and many more.

DesignTalks has been the signature event for DesignMarch from the beginning and has taken place for a full house in Harpa last years. Hlín Helga Guðlaugsdóttir is the curator of the day and event is produced by the center of Iceland Design and Architecture. DesignMarch festival will take place for the 15th time May 3rd - 7th.

For the first time in 2022, the DesignTalks conference was broadcasted live in collaboration with Dezeen and Business Iceland. Watch streaming here.
