DesignTalks 2024 - Where chaos is the norm and balancing an art - Program
The international conference DesignTalks is DesignMarch signature event taking place for the sixteenth time on April 24th. This year DesignTalks welcomes guests to the circus! Here is the full program for the day.

Flétta at DesignTalks 2024
Designers Hrefna Sigurðardóttir and Birta Rós Brynjólfsdóttir will be speaking at DesignTalks, taking place on the 24th of April in Harpa. Together they run the design studio Flétta that revolves around diverse projects where reusing of material and local production play a key role in their practice. On the surface, their work is characterised by playfulness but underneath critical questions are asked.

Alan Ricks, MASS Design Group at DesignTalks 2024
Architect Alan Ricks will be speaking at DesignTalks, taking place on the 24th of April in Harpa, Reykjavik. Alan is a Founding Principal and Co-Executive Director of MASS Design Group (Model of Architecture Serving Society), which believes that architecture has a critical role to play in supporting communities to confront history, shape new narratives, collectively heal and project new possibilities for the future. Alan’s mission is to research, build, and advocate for architecture that promotes justice and human dignity.

Robert Thiemann and Hrund Gunnsteinsdóttir at DesignTalks 2024
Interior architect, former editor of FRAME magazine and founder of Betterness, Robert Thiemann will be at DesignTalks 2024. Robert is passionate about the built environment and how individuals and communities can thrive while decreasing their impact on the planet. Author and sustainability leader Hrund Gunnsteinsdóttir will also be on stage in Harpa on the 24th of April. Hrund focuses on bringing together ideas and people across sectors and disciplines to inspire creative mindsets and constructive solutions.

Lisa Lapauw and Mous Lamrabat at DesignTalks 2024
Graphic designer, turned stylist and art director Lisa Lapauw and photographer Mous Lambrat will be at DesignTalks, taking place on the 24th of April. With their collaboration Lisa&Mous, they want to fuse fashion and design with cultural influences and nostalgic memories.

Architect, inventor and executive producer Harry Parr, one of the founders of the studio who are, in their own words, Architects of taste; feeding minds and stomachs will take the stage in Harpa.

Visual artist James Merry will be speaking at the international conference DesignTalks 2024 taking place in Harpa 24th of April. Merry is primarily known for his exceptional hand embroidery and mask-making.

DesignMarch 2024 - where chaos is the norm and the balancing act is art
This year's festival reflects the current status of the world in the circus. Let's turn everything upside down with joy, curiosity and courage! Designers, architects and creative thinkers push the boundaries of the possible with exciting exhibitions, events, workshops, guided tours and openings all over town during DesignMarch, April 24th - 28th. Playing with materials, the interactivity of nature and technology, the use of discarded raw materials and new creative solutions for society are among the things that see the light of day.

Hanna Whitehead exhibits at Greenhouse at Stockholm Furniture Fair
Designer Hanna Dís Whitehead will exhibit a new body of work during the Stockholm Furniture Fair 6th -10th of February. She will be at the Greenhouse - the platform for up-and-coming designers. She will be launching a series of vessels and boxes from mixed materials as well as a new version of her ceramic hangers that have mutated and become supersized.

It is open for applications to DesignMarch 2024, which takes place 24-28 April. Deadline is 10th of January. The festival program is taking shape, with many applications being submitted earlier this autumn. We can therefore start the countdown to spring and DesignMarch 2024!

The Airbag nominated to the Green Product Awards 2024
The Airbag by Studíó Flétta for Fólk Reykjavík is nominated to the Green Product Awards 2024. Over 1500 participants from 54 countries applied for the 11th edition of the Green Product Award. After being reviewed under the aspects of design, innovation & sustainability, the best submissions were nominated.
